Peculiar Pets is about to take your students on an adventure that’s exciting, creative and lets imaginations run wild!
What would your students' perfect peculiar pet be? An acrobatic bunny? A tech-savvy puppy? A vegan crocodile? A bird that's scared to fly? A giraffe that likes to race? A superhero cat?
Your students can create animal mash-ups, be inspired by their perfect pet or make their own awesome animal to write their poem about. It's a great theme for sense, narrative or riddle poems, acrostics and rhymes as well as showcasing poetic techniques such as imagery and alliteration.
It's a roarsome poetry writing activity you and your students will love!
Only one entry per student, there is no limit to the number of entries per school.
Where possible, the teacher is to send/upload/email all their students' entries to us.
Poems can be on the entry form or a sheet of paper or typed.
Poems must be your students' own work.
Ensure that all students include their name and age on their entries.
Independent entries are welcome - please provide your home address details instead of the school's.
Independent entries are still eligible for student prizes.

Your students need to write their poems, name, age and school on their worksheet, you then complete the school entry form and mail your entries to:
