Monster Poetry

Congratulations to our Monster Poetry Contest Winners!

1st Place Student

Winner of an iPad and the Young Writers’ Student Award of Excellence

Nicholas Payne from Quashnet School, Mashpee MA who's poem 'The Beast' was our favourite poem! Nicholas' poem was published in Monster Poetry - New England Poets.

The Beast

Be careful, watch out
It's coming, don't shout
It has seven eyes and makes you scream
I guess a good name could be Eye Scream
So about him do not dream
Not a good kind
Not a good find
Multiple arms deciding your demise
Swords, hammers and sparks that fly,
Be sure to cover your eyes
A sting of poison, a breath of fire sure to scare
Just be careful not to burn off your hair
As scary and frightening as can be
For each victim, he plants one tree.
