We’re excited to announce our brand-new poetry writing contest “Pandemic Poetry - Futures of Hope.”

Pandemic Poetry - Futures of Hope is a contest open to all children and young adults aged from 5 up to 18 years old. It's been created to provide a safe space for poets to dream about their futures.

The pandemic has affected people worldwide in the last 18 months, and young people have missed out on so much from their education to their social interactions, which has many with worries about their futures.

Pandemic Poetry is a safe environment for young writers to use as a creative outlet and focus on the hope they have. By creating an anthology from young writers of all ages, we hope to allow 5-18-year-olds to feel less alone and to capture a snapshot of this unprecedented time.

Writers can create poems in any style they would like and there is no line limit, this is about the writing process and expressing themselves.

Here are some ideas you could write about:

  • Why are you hopeful?
  • What are you looking forward to in your future?
  • What do you want other people to know?
  • If you could share a message to everyone your age, what would it be?
  • What are you excited about?
  • What do you want to do with your friends in the future?
  • Where do you want to visit when possible?
