Monster Poetry Winners 2017

We're delighted to announce our student and school winner...

1st Place Student
Winner of an iPad and the Young Writers Student Award of Excellence

© Nicholas Payne from Quashnet School, Mashpee MA whose poem 'The Beast' was our favorite poem! Nicholas' poem was published in "Monster Poetry - New England Poets".

The Beast

Be careful, watch out
It's coming, don't shout
It has seven eyes and makes you scream
I guess a good name could be Eye Scream
So about him do not dream
Not a good kind
Not a good find
Multiple arms deciding your demise
Swords, hammers and sparks that fly,
Be sure to cover your eyes
A sting of poison, a breath of fire sure to scare
Just be careful not to burn off your hair
As scary and frightening as can be
For each victim, he plants one tree.

1st Place School Winner
Winner of the Young Writers Award of Excellence

JT Hood Elementary School, North Reading, MA has been chosen as the school that submitted the best set of entries overall. 36 of their students have been published in "Monster Poetry - Creative Voices" - huge congratulations!
